โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Remove Filter and Empty Reservoir

Lift the reservoir lid and pull out the charcoal water filter holder and any used paper or permanent gold-tone coffee filters. Discard coffee grounds and set the charcoal water filter cartridge aside away from the vinegar. Ensure the water reservoir and carafe are completely empty.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Filter basket is empty with no grounds or paper inside
  • โ€ข Charcoal filter assembly is removed from the reservoir water tank
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaving the charcoal water filter in the machine during descaling, which ruins the filter
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure machine is not actively heating or freshly brewed before reaching inside.
2

Mix and Pour Descaling Solution

Combine 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 fresh water (or a 1:1 ratio for heavy calcium buildup) in your measuring cup or directly in the carafe. Pour the mixture directly into the coffeemaker water reservoir up to the maximum fill line (typically 10-12 cups). Place the empty carafe with its lid securely on the warming plate.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Water window shows liquid filled to the MAX/10-12 cup mark
  • โ€ข Carafe is centered on the warming plate with the lid securely closed
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Overfilling past the maximum line, causing liquid to spill through the overflow slot at the back
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Avoid splashing vinegar into your eyes; pour slowly into the tank.
3

Run the Clean Cycle

Press the 'Clean' button on models equipped with one, then press the 'Brew' or 'On/Off' button (the clean light will glow steadily). If your model lacks a dedicated Clean button, simply start a standard brew cycle, turn the machine off halfway through for 15 minutes to let the vinegar soak the internal boiler tubes, and then resume the cycle until empty.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Clean indicator LED is illuminated or brew cycle is actively dripping vinegar solution into carafe
  • โ€ข Hot vinegar solution begins collecting in the glass carafe
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Pressing Clean without pressing the main Brew/Power button, leaving the cycle unstarted
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Do not open the reservoir lid during the cycle; hot acidic steam will escape.
4

Wash Removable Components

Once the cycle beeps complete, carefully pour out the hot vinegar from the carafe into the sink. Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and removable filter basket with warm water and mild dish soap using a soft sponge. Rinse all soap residue thoroughly and dry with a microfiber cloth.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Carafe glass is crystal clear without coffee oil film or vinegar smell
  • โ€ข Filter basket is rinsed clean and sitting on a drying surface
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Using abrasive scouring pads that permanently scratch the carafe glass or plastic basket
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Hot vinegar liquid can burn skin; pour it directly down the drain without splashing.
5

Run Two Fresh Water Flush Cycles

Fill the glass carafe to maximum capacity with cold, fresh tap water and pour it into the water reservoir. Place the carafe and empty filter basket back in position and run a standard brew cycle. When finished, discard the water and repeat this full-pot brewing process a second time with fresh cold water to eliminate all vinegar traces.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Clear fresh water dripping smoothly into the carafe during normal brew mode
  • โ€ข Steaming water in carafe smells completely neutral with zero vinegar scent after cycle 2
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Only running a single flush cycle, leaving subsequent coffee tasting slightly sour or acidic
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: The carafe and warming plate will be hot after each flush cycle; handle only by the plastic handle.
6

Wipe Exterior and Reassemble

Unplug the coffeemaker. Dampen a microfiber cloth with warm water and gently wipe down the warming plate, housing, showerhead nozzle, and control panel. Reinsert the filter basket and reinstall the charcoal water filter assembly inside the reservoir.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Warming plate is clean and free of baked-on ring stains
  • โ€ข Machine exterior has a clean, streak-free shine
  • โ€ข Charcoal filter holder is clicked firmly back into its reservoir slot
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Wiping the warming plate while it is still plugged in and scorching hot
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Always unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before wiping down the exterior and base.
